Miami has already won the first quarterfinal game, so we know who we will play if we win this game. It will be the seemingly fated match-up with Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes.

First, we have to play our second rematch in a row of a regular-season game we’ve already played. This time, we play the Kiffin-less Ole Miss Rebels, who led Georgia by 9 points late in the last match-up.

Hopefully, Georgia controls the game a little more convincingly and sets up the big-time semifinal that many will be excited for and many never wanted to see…

But what a game it was… Georgia finally getting the Alabama elephant all the way off its back! I’m still just smiling several times a day every time I think about it.

And while it sucks to have such a long break in a great season like this when you just wish you could keep the hits coming, it’s kind of fun to sit back and watch others, including some of our rivals and conference mates, go out and play while we relax.

Not to mention, most every game now features upcoming opponents we may have to play to win a 3rd National Championship in the last five years!

Let’s take a look at the games so far and upcoming as we look ahead to Georgia’s path to that possible 2025 National Championship.

This truly feels like breaking through the one last glass ceiling Georgia Football was running into. This is the catharsis we all needed and wanted.

Even I, as I was watching it, felt both at ease that the Dawgs were taking care of business and the sense that it’s not over until it’s over. I didn’t really even panic much when Bama scored to cut it to 21-7. Still felt like Georgia had just controlled this game too much to find any way to lose.

As the game was ending, I just started to have the satisfied grin that you can’t get rid of even when someone tells you that you have it and you think you should be more discreet.

I also thought to myself, “Cole Spear was Frickin’ onside!”

I did not end up going through my traditional three key matchup and three true outcomes to build to my prediction for the game.

By the end, I gave you my thoughts on who I thought would win and how the game will flow. Honestly, we’ve already done the traditional breakdown on this game once, and I really don’t think it’s that much different.

These teams are very close in every important way statistically, with one major internal difference. That being Georgia is better at running the ball and stopping the run. I think that’s why many people seem to be leaning Georgia in this game… me too!

For the 5th straight year and 8 of the last 9 years, Georgia is playing in the SEC Championship Game. Back in the 90s, I used to wonder if we were ever going to play in at least 1 of these games…

This time we get extra motivation in the form of redemption if we can Beat Bama! We’ve lost 10 of 11 to the Tide, but nothing can make that feeling any better than celebrating on the field in front of them and their fans, winning the SEC, and building huge momentum heading into the playoffs!

I’m ready! How ‘bout you? How ‘bout them Dawgs?

Time for the 117th edition of “Clean Old Fashioned Hate,” where the Bulldogs take on the Bees from the North Avenue Trade School.

Georgia is nearly a 2-touchdown favorite, but Georgia Tech is ranked in the Top 25 and is having one of its best seasons in recent memory. Last year, they pushed Georgia to the edge with an 8-overtime all-time classic game.

But can they do it again, or is Georgia still too strong for the upset? Georgia is peaking, and Tech is suddenly struggling, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything in a hate match like this…

Let’s break down and predict the winner… Should be the Dawgs, right?

We have a special week and a special game this year, although the bees are doing their best to try to ruin the whole thing. Three weeks ago, we were looking at a potential top 10 match-up of undefeated teams squaring off with playoff implications on the line.

Now Tech has lost 2 of 3, one to a bad NC State team, and the luster or shine has come off the game a little bit. It’s still at least an AP Top 25 matchup between #4 and #23, so that’s a lot better than recent years.

Lots to talk about this week with the last game of the regular season and the big rival game on hand.

We’ve heard Kirby say over and over that he wants Georgia to be the best-conditioned team on the field so that they can own the 4th quarter. To that end, Georgia has outscored opponents 80-34 in the 4th quarter this season after beating Texas 21-0 in the 4th. Further, 21 of those 34 opponents’ 4th quarter points were garbage time TDs against Georgia bench players after the game was no longer in doubt.

That means opponents have only scored 13 total points in the 4th quarter this season with the game on the line!

That and so much more to gloat over today…

We have so much to talk about in this recap of the Georgia-Texas game that I’m breaking this podcast up into 2 parts. This one ends with me unceremoniously saying, “We are going to take a break…” I pick back up the thread of the same conversation though from the beginning of Episode 47 Part 2.

What a great game by the Dawgs and an even more brilliant effort by CKS or Head Coach Kirby Smart! He just pulled at the right strings in this game! It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!

But when you look closely, they haven’t really done much to earn that #10 ranking. They have won four in a row since losing to Florida, but they needed overtime to escape Kentucky and Mississippi State, and they let Vandy run up and down the field and put the scare of a 3-point game into what should have been a comfortable win at home for Texas.

This team on paper is not the elite defense or overly improved offense we’ve been told about, and those flaws are probably going to be exposed under red lights tonight in Sanford Stadium.

Texas is a great program, maybe even slightly better than Georgia historically. Maybe not. But Texas has been the butt of many jokes over the last 10-15 years as they have tried to get “back” to the elite of the sport.

They last reached these heights in the 2009 season when they played in and lost the BCS National Championship game. But coach Sark has them back, losing in the playoffs the last 2 seasons, and that’s the first step toward actually winning a national championship, not losing it necessarily, but being able to make the game.

Can they overcome a shaky start to the season and be a playoff contender this year? First, they have to play the Dawgs between the Hedges!

What is the ceiling and what is the floor for this team relative to the playoff? What does last year’s playoff tell us about this year? Where do we want to be? Is 5th and just outside the SEC Championship game perhaps just the right spot?

It’s what Georgia has earned on the field, so it’s the right spot in that regard, but is it a good position to be in for the Dawgs? I think it is, actually.

I don’t really like the 12-team playoff. I was fine with 4 teams. Exclusive enough to keep the tension in every game of the regular season for contenders, but a little more forgiving and encompassing than the old “bowl n poll” system.

Today, while discussing this year’s playoff, I share what I would do if I had the magic wand to wave and fix all the problems.

This team seems to be improving. And while the Mississippi State Bulldogs are not an elite team, I think this game still shows real growth for this team as the season has progressed. The defense is becoming more reliable. The offense continues to be productive and added more explosiveness this week.

Georgia is the better team, but State is a team that is improving and just won its first conference game in 2 years. They are going to be motivated, and this will not be an easy game by any means.

Also, Georgia has the chance to go for its 900th all-time program win! What an amazing landmark for this program. Georgia can become the 9th team in college football history to reach the 900-win mark. Let’s get it done today!

I think that UGA is right where we should be. 2nd highest ranked behind Alabama of the 1-loss teams. Our resume is as good as any one in the field, including #1 Ohio State. We have 2 wins against the current top 25, 1 against a top 10 team.

Woohoo! Dawgs Win! Dawgs Win!

That’s 5 in a row, baby! 8 of the last 9. 11 of the last 15. That’s right, after 20+ years of heartache against the Gators, the Dawgs have officially stemmed the tide, having reached the point where we own the last 15 years of this series.

History isn’t made in one game, and it’s taken a while to reclaim the history of this rivalry, but I feel we’ve done it now. Not that it’s time to let up; I will take all the wins we can get against the Gators.

Great win in being another game where Georgia showed toughness and grit and the ability to win close and tense games.
