Show Highlights:
In this episode, we discuss the consensus on Georgia as a potential SEC Champion and National Champion?
Is there a difference in the SEC media and the national media on UGA?
We consider and talk about the other top contenders in Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, Miami, and LSU.
To be honest, we did not really talk about Notre Dame. A lot of people are high on them as a team that could surprise and that brings back some good pieces from the National Championship runner-up team from last year.
I’m still not sold on Notre Dame and I know they beat us last year (for the first time in history, I might add). But they were not a complete team. They had a good O-line, good running backs, a QB who could make a play, but had more will than talent. They had a very stingy defense and they bring more of that back this year than anything else.
They still have a great running back, but they lost a lot on the offense line and they are starting a new QB this year. They had a couple of guys step up in the playoffs at wide receiver, but I’m not convinced that carries into this year.
I think they are a very good team with more limits on their ceiling than other bottom half of the top 10 teams.
Bottom line on Georgia… I think we are starting close to our floor and have a lot of ceiling left, which means the media probably has it right nationally. Within the SEC, I don’t think Texas’ roster has enough better pieces for them to have the gap they have on us in the race for the SEC. I think the SEC is more of a toss-up or maybe 55-45 Texas at most.
Go Dawgs!
